Keith Haring's art is the kind you've seen your whole life but never knew who it actually came from. He was a young New York City street artist who was prevalent from the late 70's to the early 90's.
Back in the early 80's, the advertising spaces in the New York subway would be covered up with black construction paper once their advertising cycle had finished. Haring saw the potential in drawing on these empty advertising frames as they provided the perfect canvas for chalk drawings and had a huge potential for public exposure as an artist.
